The first-generation Toyota Vanguard was released for sale in August 2007 as a new medium-class SUV. It competes with the Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan Xtrail, VW Tiguan and Subaru Forester.
The Toyota Vanguard is no longer in production and will not be available for import into Kenya post-2020. The upgraded Toyota Kluger will replace it.
It can be called a long body version of Toyota RAV4, but in contrast to RAV4, the concept of Vanguard was active & luxury, and was developed focusing on the design, pleasure of driving, multi-functionality and multi-passenger use. Still keeping an image of RAV4 design, Vanguard was designed for active urban lifestyle.
The two-tiered instrument panel emphasizes the expansive breadth of the interior, as well as the openness and comfort of the cabin space. The bronze-tone finish used on the center console and door trim evoke a strong sense of refinement and quality.
The Vanguard’s interior and exterior designs are based on the Toyota brand design philosophy “Vibrant Clarity,” which is suited to active urban lifestyles.
Toyota Vanguard’s engine can be chosen from 2 types: a 2.4-litre in-line 4-cylinders engine (125 kW / 224 Nm) and 3.5 litres 6-cylinder V6 engine. The 4-cylinders engine model is equipped with a continuously variable transmission Hyper CVT-i, 6-cylinder engine model is equipped with 5-speed electronic control transmission Super ECT.
